The Summit Moves to Uganda
The IEEE IES East Africa Innovation Summit is not a one-time event — it is a growing annual movement, rotating across East Africa to amplify the region's engineering voices and drive industrial innovation from every corner of the continent.
Following the inaugural 2026 edition in Nairobi, Kenya, the summit will travel to Kampala, Uganda in 2027 — bringing together engineers, researchers, students, and industry leaders for another edition of collaboration, learning, and impact.

The Host
IEEE Uganda Section
The IEEE Uganda Section is one of the most active IEEE sections in East Africa, committed to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity across Uganda and the broader region. With a vibrant community of professional engineers, academics, students, and young professionals, the section regularly organises technical workshops, conferences, and outreach programmes that bridge academia and industry.
Uganda's rapidly growing technology ecosystem — anchored by Kampala and supported by institutions such as Makerere University, one of Africa's oldest and most respected universities — makes it a natural home for the 2027 edition of the summit.
Further details on the 2027 edition — including dates, venue, and call for participation — will be announced at the close of the 2026 summit in Nairobi.
📢 Stay tuned. Full details for the 2027 Uganda edition will be announced at the IEEE IES East Africa Innovation Summit 2026 closing ceremony on 29 May 2026, Nairobi.
